Raising Awareness to Protect the Ocean
The Ocean is the source of life and a key regulator of our climate ‑ Its health is essential to our lives. Yet today, its delicate balance is under serious threat.
Under The Pole is committed to expanding knowledge of the Ocean, particularly in deep and polar regions, through outreach and educational programs aimed at schools and the general public. Our initiatives are designed to share discoveries from our divers and scientists, to help preserve the Ocean and foster more resilient societies that live in harmony with marine ecosystems.
Our Recent Engagement at UNOC 3
In June 2025, Under The Pole welcomed nearly 6,000 visitors to the United Nations Ocean Conference in Nice, showcasing the Educational Caravan, a mobile outreach unit which brings scientific discoveries from expeditions directly to the public.
Throughout the event, our teams engaged with visitors from both schools and the general public, presenting expedition findings, introducing mesophotic ecosystems challenges and raising awareness about current conservation challenges. Several film screenings drew large audiences and offered opportunities for dialogue with Under The Pole co‑founders Emmanuelle Périé‑Bardout and Ghislain Bardout, as well as Lorenzo Bramanti, Scientific Director of the DEEPLIFE project.
UNOC provided an ideal platform to roll out our full range of outreach activities ‑ including exhibitions, screenings and talks ‑ giving greater visibility to our expeditions, our scientific research programs and advocacy efforts to foment Ocean conservation.
